Choosing the Right Hat for Every Season

The right hat is no mere accessory; it’s more than half the outfit. It will also keep you safe from weather changes, make you feel more comfortable when outside and can even save your hair from damage when exposed to the elements.

Every season has its own temperature and conditions, so wearing the right kind of hat is as crucial as choosing the right clothes. Knowing what to wear all year round will make you feel comfortable, look good and maximize your wardrobe.

Bucket Hats

Bucket hats are more popular than ever due to their stylish and functional sun protection. They have a downward sloping brim to provide protection from the harmful UV rays to the face, ears and part of the neck.

There are lots of bucket hats that are lightweight cotton or water-resistant, and can be worn during beach vacations, gardening, fishing, hiking, and festivals.

Large Beanies

With cold temperatures on the horizon, it is time to start thinking about staying warm and comfy. For those who prefer something that’s a bit larger, or simply don’t like to wear a standard hat, large beanies are great.

Their larger size conforms to larger head sizes, thick, curly, or braided hair and protective hairstyles without undue pressure. Beanies are great for commuting, hiking, working outdoors, or to keep warm during normal activities.

Baseball Caps

Baseball caps are still one of the most versatile hats for the spring and summer season. The curved brim keeps the face shielded from the sun and provides lots of airflow around the head.

They are particularly suitable for a casual outing, sport and travel, or day-to-day wear. They can also be adjusted to fit comfortably to various head sizes, with adjustable closures.

Wide-Brim Hats

Wide-brim hats offer maximum protection from the sun. These offer a level of protection from direct exposure to the face, neck and shoulders and are a great choice during hot summer months.

These hats are often used for hiking, farming, golfing or long periods of time in the garden. When it comes to breathable materials, heat can escape, and you can still enjoy reliable sun protection.

Flat Caps

Flat caps fit the bill for timeless fashion, especially in the spring and fall. They are light in weight and warm but not too hot and heavy, which will be useful in cooler mornings or mild afternoons.

Flat caps can be made from cotton, wool or tweed and complement casual and smart casual outfits. They provide a more elegant option for those desiring a hat suitable for both form and style.

Trapper Hats

Trapper hats are excellent in extremely cold weather. They are insulated and have ear flaps to keep the body warm and protect the ears and neck from cold winds.

These hats are particularly practical for skiing and snowboarding, winter walking and outdoor activities in cold weather. On the outside layers, water-resistant materials help keep you comfortable even in the coldest weather; the soft inner layers insulate you.
